Summer Reading and Math for Students Entering Grade 3
Summer Reading
- Read as many books as possible this summer. A list is provided to assist you in choosing books. In addition to book titles, a variety of book series and authors are included. You may read any book from the series and authors are included. You may read books that are not on the list, as well. However, try to choose books at your reading level.
- Make a list of all books you read over the summer. The list will be collected the first week of school.
- A minimum of 2 book reports are due during the first week of school.
- Book reports should include:
- An attractive, hand-drawn picture depicting a favorite scene or character from the book.
- A report that includes:
- The title and author of the book.
- 2-3 sentences about the plot (main events) of the book.
- 1-2 sentences about your opinion of the book. Did you like the book? Why or why not?

These websites are extensive and will require you to navigate with your child. There are also opportunities to print worksheets off to do with your child.
