These are some books you can choose to read. These authors also have other wonderful books to read. You may have favorite stories of your own you want to share with your child. Feel free!! The important thing is to read over the summer with your child.

Assignment: Read eight to ten books. For each book that is read, have your child illustrate a picture of his/her favorite part and a write a sentence that tells about the picture, with the focus coming from what happened in the story.

Please don't help your child with the writing. You can discuss what happened in the story and ask questions. I am not looking for perfect spelling. Please ask your child to sound out the words as best they can.

Materials: Composition book, pencil and crayons.

Please send this book in on your child's first day of school. We will all share something we wrote and we will continue to use this book for our journaling.
